The beautiful carved doors of Aix-en-Provence

If you needed any further excuse to go to Aix-en-Provence other than the architecture, food, wine - and (apparently) wonderful shopping - then check out the carved doors. This town is a carved door nerds dream. I am not sure why there are so many there but they certainly are elaborate and must have cost a few francs. So while my wife is in one of the many little boutiques I hang out, take snaps of the doors and pretend that I don't see her gesturing to me to come in and, "look at this... "

So and if you want a door like any of these, I would leap at the chance - but bring your francs, or better still euros, as I have a hungry wife to feed.
